CTZ aka Selût - Spit Walkers / LTAA Spotlights #5
18 December 2025
As one of the freshest additions to London’s creative scene, CTZ, also known as Selût, stands out as a highly multidisciplinary talent with a distinctive and defined style.
From the moment she arrived in London, we at LTAA were eager to meet her and explore the potential for collaboration. Our shared curiosity quickly turned into a creative dialogue, and, true to form, she delivered something genuinely unique and special.
1- Dear CTZ, aka Selût; could you tell us about your story and your multidisciplinary creative identity?
Hello, I enjoy experimenting with visual and auditory experiences. As CTZ, I focus on areas such as atmosphere, character design, and creative direction, while Selût comes into play where my visual production intersects with music and performance. This persona functions as a space for experimentation and experience-building for me.
While my visual practice progresses through individuality, Selût allows me to come together with collective production and live audience interaction. At the same time, as a persona, I explore questions around identity perception and the building blocks of reality, developing works that respond to these inquiries.
2- Which experiences were influential in shaping the fundamental building blocks of your current artistic practice?
The people I have met, along with my daily-life observations layered and combined over time, conversations, emotions such as pain, love, and rebellion, have all played a significant role. In searching for responses to these experiences and feelings, I have consistently been drawn toward production and creating.
3- As you are still relatively new to London, what have been the most striking differences you have observed in the art and design scene, especially compared to Istanbul?
I came to London for my Master’s education as well as for exploration. Most of my observations therefore, stem from returning to an academic environment after a long time.
What has influenced me the most is the space given, both in design and in life, for addressing subjective matters within one’s creative production. There is a strong emphasis on having a dialogue with one’s inner world and questioning what one does and why. Rather than looking outward, people seem more concerned with engaging with the knots within themselves.
4- Could you tell us about the process behind Spit Walkers – The Daily Life of Creatives in London, which you created for us? What were the sources of inspiration or reference for this multilayered and detailed work?
When we first spoke, it was only my first month in London, and I didn’t yet feel that I had enough experience to create a sincere composition about the city and the ways people communicate here. With these feelings in mind, I observed the city and its people, allowing myself the time and space to experience it fully. When I returned to my desk to sketch, Spit Walkers emerged from the stories I wanted to talk about and narrate through the work.
5- How has London so far influenced your creative and production processes in a broader sense?
Encountering people from all over the world in unexpected places and being exposed to a wide range of ideas, particularly in terms of experience design, has given me the courage to return to and further develop ideas I had previously set aside. Being in London continues to ignite and fuel this excitement within me.
6- From illustration to music, what upcoming creative projects can we expect from Selût in the near future?
Recently, we presented Selût’s third hologram performance at Zorlu PSM in Istanbul. Building on the techniques we used in London, I will begin experimenting with adapting and presenting these approaches here. My upcoming work will focus on visual world-building, stage design, and interactive content.
We sincerely thank CTZ aka Selût, for sharing her inspiring journey, creative process, and distinctive perspective with us.
Be sure to look out for LTAA postcards and exclusive limited-edition art prints featuring her work, Spit Walkers.
